Event Details:
The Sights and Sounds of Kenya will be celebrated during Bethel International Ministry’s (BIM) Seventh Annual Dinner and Fundraiser. The August 31st event at Ashford United Methodist Church (AUMC), 2201 S. Dairy Ashford Road, 77077, begins at 5:00 pm and is free and open to the public.
Miriam Macharia, founder of BIM, will host the Ceremonies featuring Pastor James Lee, Associate Pastor of The Church at Bethel’s Family and a member of the BIM Board of Directors. The Global Enlightenment Center (GEC) Worship Team will lead praise and worship, along with Praise Dancing by The Church at Bethel’s Family. Traditional Kenyan dishes will be served at dinner and BIM volunteers will wear traditional African clothing. A video featuring the BIM children and their caretakers will also be highlighted.
BIM was recently invited to join forces with Bethel’s Global Reach by Pastor Walter August Jr. of The Church at Bethel’s Family. “As iron sharpens iron, Mother Miriam’s anointed ministry and our global reach activities will result in exponential aid to orphans, the poor, the homeless and destitute,” said Pastor August. “This is a very important union,” he added. Pastor Marcus Holman is Executive Director of Bethel’s Global Reach, Inc.
The Celebration is preceded by a Two-day Prayer Conference at Ashford United Methodist Church beginning with Evangelist Hilda Kahai Friday, August 30 from 4 pm until 7 pm, followed by Pastors Phinehas and Joyce Kinuthia on Saturday, August 31, from 8 am until 11 am.
The public is also invited to attend the prayer conference.
Year-round, BIM feeds and clothes 29 orphans and 13 adult caretakers in Nakuru, Kenya. BIM also provides their school tuition and medical care. The organization purchased land in Nakuru in 2011 which is the site of a planned food bank/community center for the local families. Macharia personally fed and clothed orphans for 10 years until she formed BIM in 2004 under the Mission Ministry Outreach of Ashford UMC.
The BIM Board of Directors are: Miriam Macharia, Founder; Pastor Chris Norton, Ashford UMC; Pastor James Lee, The Church at Bethel’s Family; Stuart Corder, Chairman; Becky Herren, Treasurer; David Boothe, Secretary; Nathan Kabue; Julius Macharia; Kathy Carey, Administrator of Bethel’s Global Reach, Inc.; Eve Wanjiru and Marlene Weyand.
